4 Things To Have Even If You Hire Professional Movers

Blog

When you are moving into a new place, hiring professional household movers can be extremely helpful for getting the job done as quickly as possible. However, you shouldn't only rely on the movers. There are certain tasks you are going to want to do yourself that are going to help speed up the process even more. Here are four things to be sure that you have even if you are bringing in professionals to help with moving all your stuff:

  1. A Dolly: Most likely the professionals are going to bring a dolly to use themselves, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra dolly on hand, especially if you have a lot of heavy furniture that needs to be moved. You can even lend a hand in moving some of the furniture outside of the house for them to load onto the truck for you. Be sure that you write your name on the dolly just to be sure that the movers don't bring the dolly back with them.
  2. Door Props: Door props are going to be helpful to ensure that the movers don't have to keep opening and closing the door to let themselves in and out. This is also going to make it easier to have the movers carry more outside at once since no one will have to hold the door opening when trying to get things outside. You can also place door props on any coded doors in your apartment so long as it's okay with the neighbors to make the process go more quickly, as well.
  3. Extra Tape: Another important thing to have on hand is extra tape. You never know if any boxes are going to become loose and will require extra tape to hold them together. This will help you avoid potential spills and damages to your personal belongings and ensure that everything gets to your new place in one piece.
  4. Extra Boxes: Be sure to also have extra boxes on hand. You never know if there was a cabinet or drawer in the house that you forgot to pack up. If something like this happens, it can be challenging finding a place for all the stuff to fit. On top of this, you may have to spend extra time opening and re-taping boxes.

When you double check that you have these four things on hand for the day of your move, you can be sure that you are heavily prepared, and it helps the professionals move a bit quicker, as well.
